Burglar Caught Red-Handed After Late-Night Heist Turns Into an Impromptu Nap

Date:

In an unusual incident that left many amused, a would-be burglar in the Medak district of Telangana got more than he bargained for after breaking into a local wine shop. His attempt to steal cash and liquor bottles ended with him being caught red-handed, quite literally, as he lay unconscious on the shop’s floor after indulging in his ill-gotten goods.

The bizarre event occurred in the Kanakadurga Wine Shop, located in Narsingi, on a quiet Sunday night. The owner, Parsha Goud, arrived at his shop early Monday morning, unaware of the drama that had unfolded overnight. Upon opening the shop, Goud was startled to find a man sprawled on the floor amid scattered liquor bottles and a disarray of the shop’s contents.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, the owner immediately alerted local authorities. The Narsingi police arrived swiftly and apprehended the man, who was still heavily intoxicated. Investigations revealed that the burglar had gained entry to the wine shop by creating a hole in the asbestos sheet roof. Under the cover of darkness, he managed to descend into the shop undetected. His original plan seemed straightforward: grab the cash and as much liquor as possible, then make a quick getaway.

However, his execution of the plan deviated wildly. After pocketing the available cash and filling his bag with liquor bottles, the burglar succumbed to temptation. Consuming the shop’s wares seemed to be his undoing, as he drank heavily and eventually passed out on the shop floor. When the police arrived, they found the man in a heavily inebriated state. Unfit for questioning or immediate detention, the authorities first transported him to a local hospital to ensure his health and sobriety. Once deemed medically stable, the man was taken into custody.

The shop’s owner, Parsha Goud, worked closely with the Narsingi police to register a formal complaint. A case was promptly filed against the burglar, whose antics have since become the talk of the town. The incident has sparked a range of reactions from locals, many of whom are both amused and perplexed by the burglar’s lack of foresight. “You hear about robberies all the time, but this is the first time I’ve heard of a thief who decided to drink on the job,” one resident quipped.

Others, however, expressed concern about the security of local businesses. “This incident highlights the need for better security measures,” another resident noted. “Shop owners should consider investing in CCTV cameras and stronger locks to prevent such incidents.”

Interestingly, this is not the first time an intoxicated burglar has been caught mid-heist. Similar incidents have been reported worldwide, where perpetrators consume stolen goods on-site, leading to their eventual capture. Experts believe that such cases often involve individuals acting on impulse rather than planning.

The accused in this case faces multiple charges, including burglary and theft. Depending on the value of the stolen goods and the cash, he could be looking at significant legal consequences. Additionally, the fact that he was caught inebriated on the premises may impact his defense, as it shows a clear lack of intent to escape post-crime.
