Saif Ali Khan Rememebers the Intruder attack that almost left him paralysed

In a harrowing turn of events, Bollywood luminary Saif Ali Khan faced a life-threatening ordeal when an intruder infiltrated his Mumbai residence on January 16, 2025. The assailant, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, attacked Khan with a knife, resulting in six stab wounds, two of which were perilously close to his spine.

The actor underwent emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital, where surgeons successfully removed a blade lodged near his thoracic spinal cord and repaired leaking spinal fluid. Khan’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their children were present during the incident but remained unharmed.

In his first interview post-recovery, Saif recounted the terrifying night. He and Kareena were asleep when, around 2 a.m., a house help alerted them to an intruder in their younger son Jeh’s room. Upon confronting the masked assailant, Saif engaged in a struggle, sustaining multiple stab wounds. Reflecting on the severity of his injuries, he remarked, “That’s how close it came—just one more millimeter, and we’d be talking paralysis.”

The incident has sparked widespread concern and discussions about security among Bollywood celebrities. Fans and well-wishers have expressed their support for Saif and his family during this challenging time. The Mumbai Police have since arrested the suspect, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national, who had illegally entered India and assumed a false identity.

He made his first public appearance post-incident at a Netflix event in Mumbai, attending the trailer launch of his upcoming series, “Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins.” Dressed in a denim ensemble, the actor appeared calm and cheerful, stating, “Feels nice to be standing here.”
