In a fiery public meeting at the Narela Assembly constituency, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), terming it the ‘Aawaidh Aamdaniwali Party’, or the party of illegal income. Shah accused the ruling party of Delhi, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, of spreading lies for votes and indulging in massive corruption during its decade-long rule in the national capital.
Amit Shah’s Sharp Criticism of AAP’s Governance
During his address, Amit Shah highlighted the deteriorating state of Delhi under AAP’s leadership. “Kejriwal only told lies to get votes,” Shah alleged, claiming that the promises made by AAP were never fulfilled. He blamed the government for issues such as dirty water supply, rampant waterlogging, lack of facilities in hospitals, and a decline in education standards.
Shah further accused the Kejriwal government of sheltering illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and Rohingyas. “If voted to power, the BJP will eradicate this problem within two years,” he assured the crowd. The Union Home Minister’s remarks drew attention to the BJP’s promise of strong governance and strict action against illegal immigration.
Amit Shah contrasted the governance in BJP-ruled states with that of Delhi under AAP, claiming that states with BJP’s double-engine government—referring to a BJP-led central and state government—have progressed significantly. “While governance under Kejriwal worsened Delhi’s condition, BJP-ruled states witnessed development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership,” Shah asserted.
Shah also pointed out that the BJP had a proven track record of delivering on promises, citing PM Modi’s third consecutive term as evidence of public trust in the saffron party’s leadership. “Delhi too can become the number one capital in the world under BJP’s rule,” he said, urging voters to elect BJP candidate Raj Karan Khatri from Narela.
Shah did not hold back when accusing the AAP government of engaging in corruption. He alleged that AAP leaders had committed scams worth crores of rupees across various sectors, including: Liquor Policy Scam: Shah claimed that former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia opened liquor shops near schools, temples, and gurdwaras, thereby promoting alcoholism among the youth. Delhi Jal Board Scam: The BJP leader alleged irregularities in the functioning of the Delhi Jal Board, leading to a loss of public funds. Ration Distribution Scam: Shah accused the AAP government of exploiting the ration distribution system for personal gain. DTC Bus Purchase Scam: The purchase of buses for the Delhi Transport Corporation allegedly involved corruption. School Construction Scam: He claimed that classroom construction projects in Delhi schools were marred by financial misconduct.
Amit Shah also criticized AAP’s education policies, alleging that schools in Delhi have been neglected under its governance. He argued that the government’s claims of improving education were false, as there was a lack of adequate facilities and infrastructure in schools. “The former education minister indulged in corruption worth crores of rupees instead of focusing on the future of our children,” Shah said.
While Amit Shah launched a full-scale attack on the AAP, the ruling party has consistently defended its record by highlighting improvements in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. However, the BJP has countered these claims with accusations of corruption and inefficiency.
The upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 5, will serve as a litmus test for both the BJP and AAP. The results, which will be announced on February 8, could potentially reshape the political landscape of the national capital. For the BJP, a victory would mark a significant comeback in Delhi, while AAP seeks to retain its hold on power.
As the election campaign heats up, the BJP, led by Amit Shah, has sharpened its attack on the AAP government, accusing it of corruption, mismanagement, and sheltering illegal immigrants. The saffron party has positioned itself as a viable alternative, promising development and strong governance under PM Modi’s leadership. The upcoming elections will decide whether Delhiites will endorse these promises or continue to support the AAP.
