Atishi Remembers the Freedom Fighters

Addressing the gathering, CM Atishi began by paying homage to iconic leaders of India’s independence movement. “Freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, Lala Lajpat Rai, and Chandrashekhar Azad sacrificed their lives, thinking not of themselves but of the nation. Their sacrifices still give me goosebumps,” she said with palpable emotion.

Her tribute highlighted the importance of their sacrifices, urging citizens to draw inspiration from their selflessness and courage. She emphasized that their vision of a free and equitable India should continue to guide the nation’s progress.

CM Atishi lauded the Indian Constitution as a transformative document that laid the foundation for an egalitarian society. She credited Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and other founding leaders for ensuring that the rights of every citizen were protected.

Transforming Education in Delhi

A significant portion of CM Atishi’s speech was dedicated to the strides made by the Delhi government in the education sector. She recounted the poor state of government schools in the past and how these challenges perpetuated poverty among underprivileged families.

There was a time when government schools in Delhi were in deplorable condition. Children from marginalized communities had no access to quality education, keeping them trapped in poverty. Today, I am proud to say that Delhi’s government schools have become a symbol of hope and transformation for countless families,” she asserted.

From diagnostics to medicines, everything is covered. These initiatives are part of our effort to fulfil the dreams of those who fought for our freedom,” she said.

In addition to healthcare, CM Atishi highlighted the state’s success in ensuring 24×7 electricity for all residents, marking Delhi as a trailblazer in essential services. “Reliable electricity and healthcare should not be luxuries but basic rights, and we are committed to ensuring these for every Delhiite,” she added.
